Textbook and Curriculum

 Adoption Committee

Purpose

The Textbook and Curriculum Adoption Committee is an advisory group of parents, teachers, and administrators whose role is to review new curriculum projects and textbooks and make recommendations that will help the district instructional leaders build the academic excellence of Hackensack High School. The Textbook and Adoption committee will also assist in the coordination of curriculum to ensure compliance with the New Jersey Core Content Standards (NJCCCS).  The Textbook and Curriculum Adoption committee may also meet to conduct parent/community/student review of materials that have recently been adopted.

Selection of Members

Community members and parents are welcome to volunteer to be a member of the committee at any time by downloading the application form and sending it to the chairman of the committee, c/o Hackensack High School, 1st and Beech Streets, Hackensack, NJ, Attn: Curriculum Committee.  Each applicant’s name will then be added to a master committee list and each applicant will receive a letter stating that they have been added to the list.

When a new curriculum project is up for review or adoption, a committee specific to that project will be assembled of volunteers based on stated interest and expertise. For example, if  a need arose  to review the Anatomy and Physiology curriculum, volunteers who had experience in the health or medical fields would be  invited to join the committee first.
