FAQ

Question's parents might have for Hackensack High School's Nurse.

How do I request school work for my absent/sick child?

Please contact the guidance counselor.

What is the policy for my child to receive medication during school?

Parents may send to school only those prescribed medications, which must be taken during school hours. As much as possible, medications should be dispensed at home and not sent into school. When it is necessary to bring medication to school, the medication must:

  1. Be brought immediately to the nurse's office
  2. Be prescribed medication in its legal container
  3. Be accompanied by a note from a parent/guardian
  4. Be accompanied by a not from your doctor.

We also have forms in the nurse's office you may use. This rule applies to all medications, even over the counter medications, ie. Tylenol, Advil, etc.

No exceptions.

What if my child has a cast or brace or crutches?

Please notify the nurse's office if your child has had an injury requiring a cast, brace, or crutches. A note from the doctor should be brought to the nurse's office. A doctor's note is required if your child will be excused from Physical Education for more than three days. The note must specify use of crutches in school if the child requires them. The doctor's note must request and elevator key also.
