Eligibility
Be aware of State guidelines for eligibility for participating in Sports.
· All incoming Freshmen are eligible to compete.
· Freshmen must have a total of 13.75 credits in February in order to compete in Spring sports. Successful completion of 27.5 credits will make you eligible Sophomore year.
· A minimum of 27.5 credits is required each subsequent year to maintain eligibility.
· Any student/athlete shall maintain a 2.0 Grade Point Average or be subject to a tutorial program while in season Insurance
The Board of Education has purchased comprehensive coverage to protect all participants in interscholastic athletics against accidental injury. Coverage is provided not only for athletes but also for equipment managers, band members, cheerleaders, and flag wavers. PLEASE NOTE: This policy is excess over any other insurance you may have. Thus, PARENTS MUST USE THEIR OWN INSURANCE FIRST. This policy will then pick up those bills not covered by your own insurance, up to the limits of the policy. If you do not have insurance for medical expenses, this policy will go into effect immediately.
THE PATIENT... · Report any injury immediately to the coach or trainer. · Report injury to school nurse upon return to school and fill out accident report. · If necessary go to your family doctor for treatment. Use your own insurance. · Outstanding balance if any after your insurance has paid its part should be submitted to Bollinger along with form provided by the school.
Warning: Before using any doctor or therapist other than your family doctor check with your insurance company for coverage. Although this policy is very broad, there are restrictions, limitations and exclusions in this policy. In many situations, medical bills may not be covered in full. Parents should use their own personal insurance to pay these balances, and should understand that medical expenses are their own responsibility, not the school’s.
Sportsmanship
The responsibilities of Sportsmanship
The Player... · Treats opponents with respect. · Plays hard, but plays within the rules. · Exercises self-control at all times, setting an example for others to follow. · Respects officials and accepts their decisions without gesture or argument. · Wins without boasting, loses without excuses and never quits. · Always remembers that it is a privilege to represent the school and community
The Spectator... · Attempts to understand and be informed of the playing rules. · Appreciates a good play no matter who makes it. · Cooperates with and responds enthusiastically to cheerleaders. · Shows compassion for an injured player, applauds positive performances; does not heckle, jeer or distract players; and avoids use of profane and obnoxious language and behavior. · Respects the judgment and strategy of the coach and does not criticize players for loss of a game. · Respects property of others and authority of those who administer the competition. · Censures those whose behavior is unbecoming.
